ACRO PROGRAM
Joni's Dance Studio proudly offers the premier acro program for the hill country and surrounding areas.
Levels are designed to be taken for multiple years until a dancer has been able to master
skills needed for the subsequent level.
**All classes have skill requirements which will be strictly enforced. **
Dancers will be evaluated periodically to ensure they are placed into the correct level.

Acro Curriculum
Stretch & Conditioning
Stretch & Conditioning class is designed for dancers of all ages and offered at various times during the week.This 30-minute class is an excellent way for your dancer to increase their flexibility and improve arm, core & leg strength.
Open to ages 4+.

Intro to Acro
Students enrolled in this class do not need any prior acro training. This class will focus on acro technique of cartwheels, backbends, handstand tuck and roll, front overs, chin stands and back kickovers.
Recommended Classes: Stretch
Recommended ages 4-7 or minimal acro training.

Beginner Acro
Required skills for this level: Students enrolled in this class must be able to do a cart wheel, chinstand, handstand tuck and roll, front over, backbend and kick over with proper technique.
*Required Class:Stretch
This class will focus on progressions of front walkovers, back walkovers, chinstands, elbow stands, side aerials, back handsprings, headknips and other acro variations.
If a student who enrolls in this class does not meet the requirements they will be evaluated for their appropriate level on the first week of classes.

Intermediate Acro
*Required skills for this level: Students enrolled in this class must be able to do a front walkover, chin stand, back walkover, and either a side aerial or back handspring with little to no spot.
*Required Class: Stretch
This class will focus on maintaining proper fundamental technique of previously learned skills while learning more advanced acro variations. Students in this level should focus on flexibility and strength in order to progress.
If a student who enrolls in this class does not meet the requirements they will be evaluated for their appropriate level on the first week of classes.

Advanced Acro
*Required skills for this level: Students enrolled in this class should demonstrate solid fundamental acro technique and must be able to a headknip, back handspring and side aerial without spot as well as demonstrate extensive back/leg flexibility and strength.
*Required Class: Stretch
This advanced level class will focus on a student's have body awareness and control while advancing into more difficult variations such as: side aerials on both sides, front aerials, whip backs, back tuck, etc.
If a student who enrolls in this class does not meet the requirements they will be evaluated for their appropriate level on the first week of classes.

Prodigy Acro
This level is by teacher invite ONLY!
*Required skills for this level: Students enrolled in this class MUST demonstrate extensive back/leg flexibility and must be able to do a back handspring, side aerials, and front aerial or back tuck without spot.
*Required Class: Stretch
